Why The Effects Of Divorce Are Being Dramatically Reduced

Effects of divorce can differ based on the religious beliefs of those going through it, and the beliefs of their families, and they can also differ greatly due to the circumstances in which the divorce takes place. The situation has been eased considerably in recent times by the introduction of new laws allowing for quicker divorces when there is no fault alleged by either party. These laws can lessen the emotional effects of a divorce, and they will definitely lessen the financial loss incurred. It will not be possible to use this solution in all cases, but there are many where it can be used.

It has always been assumed by the law that divorce is an undesirable occurrence, and that it should only be allowed to happen when one party is suffering unreasonably due to the behavior of the other. The legal system in every Western country which permitted divorce insisted that one party go in to court and prove a fault on behalf of the other. This meant that the only divorces which could go ahead were the messy ones with acrimony and argument. The simple divorces where both parties agreed the marriage should end were prevented from happening.

The effects which a divorce has on every party concerned were made worse by this anomaly in the law. The people who should have been able to effect a quick solution and move on with their lives were the ones who were put to the greatest trouble. There had to be an allegation of misconduct, even when both parties were happy to just end the marriage and move on. The improvement in the law is going to save a lot of people a lot of trouble, and it will also save money.

The effects of divorce on children is one of the most hotly debated topics, and there are many misconceptions which need to be corrected. Divorce can be a traumatic event for children, but this will be far worse if the divorce is acrimonious and drawn out. The positive side of the high divorce rate is that most children will already have been exposed to the concept through having friends whose parents have already gone through the ordeal.

The effects on children can be greatly reduced by getting the divorce out of the way as quickly as possible, and getting the child into an environment where they can live in peace. This will leave fewer emotional scars, and it will also reduce the disruption to education to the smallest possible degree. This is now possible with the quick no fault divorces which are available to couples who can agree on the settlement which should be reached. The new laws will go a long way toward lessening the traumatic effects of divorce.
